Section 1: About the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) Exams
The American Association of Family & Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) is the only professional association dedicated to family and consumer sciences students and professionals from both multiple practice settings and content areas. The broad-based membership organization helps connect FCS professionals to share knowledge, research, and experience. The mission of AAFCS is to provide leadership and support for professionals whose work assists individuals, families, and communities in making informed decisions about their well-being, relationships, and resources to achieve optimal quality of life. To this end, AAFCS is involved with a range of activities such as publishing a professional journal, accrediting post-secondary academic programs, and offering credentialing opportunities for pre-professionals and professionals.

About the AAFCS Examinations for Texas FCS Certification
The AAFCS examinations test the content area knowledge and skills of Texas educator candidates pursuing one of the state's teacher certifications in Family and Consumer Sciences.
The following examinations are currently used for Texas educator certification:

- Hospitality, Nutrition, and Food Science (HNFS) Examination (201)
